Photography – Understanding Auto Focusing Lenses
Photography – Understanding Auto Focusing Lenses
Virtually all but the cheapest digital cameras have some form of auto focusing feature built into them. In practice, using the system is fairly easy and intuitive – we are going to let the camera decide where the object is that we are photographing, so that it can then adjust the focus accordingly to capture the sharpest possible image. But how does this actually work?
The explanation of how auto focusing works is actually tied to a concept that is getting more exposure in newer digital cameras: the histogram of pixel intensities for a given digital image. You can view this histogram on your LCD screen after you have captured an image. What it shows is a graphical display of the number of pixels that have recorded a given brightness value in the image.
Aesthetics of Landscape Photography
Aesthetics of Landscape Photography
Human beings love to travel. Exploring the unknown is their basic instinct. They try to get the distinctive flavor of different corners of this planet. The enriched beauty of nature mother leaves the nostalgia even years after years. A camera is very basic equipment during travelling. This is nothing but an attempt to bring back the effect as a token of remembrance. This planet is a vast area and visiting the same place for several times is not possible if someone tries to reach every corner within single life time. It is a nice concept to capture certain beauties in your camera to keep the lovely memories.
Do You Really Need That Tripod?
Do you really need that tripod?
A tripod is usually clumsy to carry around and many photographers hold their cameras in hand while shooting. But if you want sharper pictures, especially out in nature, bring and use a tripod! The longer the lens used and the slower the shutter speed, the greater is the risk of blurring caused by camera shake.
Tripods are used for both still and motion photography to prevent camera movement. They reduce camera shake, and thus are instrumental in achieving maximum sharpness. A tripod is also helpful in achieving precise framing of the image, or when more than one image is being made of the same scene, for example when bracketing the exposure.
A tripod is of great help in composing and framing your photos. Once the camera is mounted on the tripod you are left free to get the framing and composition perfect.
Can You Make a Lot of Money With Photography?
Can You Make a Lot of Money With Photography?
How many pictures do you have on your hard drive right now? Probably a lot right? Well some of those might just be of family and friends, but I am willing to bet that some of those pictures are worth some money.
Designers are always looking for new and fresh pictures that they can use in website designs and brochures and everything else they design. That’s why websites like Dreamstime and Fotolia are making so much money these days. They are acting as a broker for people who have pictures and people who need pictures.
But selling your pictures online is not the only way you can make a lot of money with your photography. You can also market to your local community. Take pictures at youth baseball and basketball games. Show up for college football games and submit some pictures to the local newspaper. Make a calendar of all of your favorite pictures from around town and market it to the towns people. They will love having the personal touch of a calendar with pictures from their local community.
What You Need to Take the Best Pictures
What You Need to Take the Best Pictures
Digital cameras have opened up so much for photographers, both amateur and professional. With digital there is no guessing whether or not you got the shot. It is almost fool proof. However, if you don’t have the right equipment you might miss the perfect shot. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on expensive equipment, in fact almost everything on this list is easy to find and relatively inexpensive. But you will be glad you have it!
A Quality Bag
Many cameras today are so small you can tuck them in your pocket or through them in your purse. While it is possible to do that, it is not recommended. Cameras are precision instruments that need to be treated with care. You should take precautions to protect your camera at all times. But never fear, even in a case that small camera will still fit in your pocket. There are some great small camera cases available that will fit snug around your camera and keep it protected.

7 rugged and water proof cameras tested in video mode – Seven of the latest models of water and shock protected cameras, many of them with GPS, are tested for stability when recording video in HD-resolution. The test platform, a Yamaha Ténéré motorbike, directly reveals any possible flaw in the cameras optical stabilization. As you will see, very few of them are usable mounted on a vehicle (or handheld when using the zoom to it´s fullest).
How Much Should I Charge for Photo Packages?
Question by Tonya R: How much should I charge for photo packages?
How much to charge for my photos?
I do photography out of my home. Have a great quality printer and a CISS system so ink is not a problem for me anymore. I do portraits w/different backgrounds and lighting and I also do green screen work with plenty of layered fairyland, jungle and garden type backgrounds edited in for little boys and girls. I use high quality editing software so borders, effects and anything else I might add always look great. I’ve actually been a bit scared of starting the business but recently a few people have been coming to me trying to get me to teach them what I do. One of them even already got her business registered and then came to me looking for “lessons” or “advice” re layout. I cannot tell others how i do what I do and have them getting paid while I sit home scared to test the waters. I have already taken some photos and repaired and resized old, faded and damaged photos for a fee. My work is hanging on the walls of quite a few people’s homes already. There is a guy who has a print/phot shop not far from here and it appears his is the only name in the game right now. A lot of his customers are contacting me because they heard from others who have seen my work. The general consensus is that he charges way too much now that he knows he has no competition. I didn’t mean to become his competition but I am passionate about the photos I take and the work I do with the editing an dprinting process. I also know that I don’t have to charge nearly as much as he does and I can still get a profit. I cannot afford a shop right now, but am thinking that if I do this from my home for a little while I just might be able to open up a shop of my own and get an even bigger printer so that i can do posters larger than the 13×19′s that my printer maxes out on. I LOVE taking pictures and i also love working on them. My target market at this stage is young women with children. I ahve thousands of fabulous backgrounds and templates for weddings, patriotic, grunge, sweet sixteen, school days, birthdays, graduations, seniors, all holidays… you name it, I’ve proabably got the files for it. The guy who is charging too much doesn’t have the feminine edge that I’ve got so I see no problem with luring my customers with beautiful backgrounds that include starburts, pearls, jewels, film strips, raised looking elegant fonts, etc…My only problem is that after spending the last 3-7 years studying my craft and collecting all my equipment, now that I am ready and have everything but a shop…I don’t know what price range to start out with. Some are telling me that I am not charging enough for the packages I am offering as a start-up promotion. I feel that i can afford to. I’ve calculated how much paper, ink and packaging costs and I come out way ahead profitwise even though I am only going to be charging a third of what my competitor charges. We’re in a low-income neighborhood so feel that fair is fair…if I treat my community with respect then they will do the same by me. What price do you think is fair to charge in a low-income area? My first package is $ 15.000 for one 8×10, one 5×7 and 8 wallets. My second package is two poses with the same amount of pictures as in package 1 but for $ 25.00. Third package is the same as package 2, but with 3 poses and a 13×19 photo with two additonal poses on the 13 x19 collage. Is my pricing too low? Like I said, if I am making a good profit why go too high? I will be adding more services as my business grows, i.e. silkscreening t-shirts, mugs, etc. I suppose when my workload increases and I have a shop to call my own instead of working out of my home, then I can reconsider costs to include overhead…
